- If you reread in 10 years, what do you expect to read past that you couldn’t see now?
- Which single sentence hit you the hardest? Why did it have that effect?
- How did the story change the way you look at your own life?
- If the book was a place you could visit, what would the light, smell, and sounds be like?
- What is one big idea the book has about life, and do you see it that way too?
- Which scene would make the most honest movie trailer, and which one would be the most deceptive?
- If the title had to be a question instead of a statement, what would it be?
- If you could hear the unfiltered thoughts of one character, who would it be and at what moment?
- Did you ever switch your allegiance from one character to another? What caused the change?
- If one chapter had to be removed, which would you pick, and how would that change the story?
- Which object in the story is carrying the most symbolic weight?
- When did you disagree with the book, and did another part of the story challenge your view?
- Which character is most misunderstood by others in the book, and are readers likely to misunderstand them too?
- If you could draw the story’s timeline, what would it look like?
What is the book’s core belief about how things work? Do you share that view?
- If you could swap the ending emotion (same events, different feeling), what would you choose?
- Which part of the book makes you want to put it down and just think for a while? Why that specific moment?
- Which belief of yours did the book make slightly less certain?
- If you had to defend a disliked character in court, what’s your best argument?
- Where is the book very direct and to the point, and where does it take its time?

- When does the book prefer honesty over style, and when does it do the opposite?
- Which risk did the book take that you wish more books would try?
- What did you skim (honestly), and what does that reveal about pacing or priorities?
- If the author had a “do not touch” sign over one theme, which is it, and why so guarded?
- Whose absence is loudest (a missing voice, perspective, place, or time)?
- Describe the book’s writing style. Is it simple, fancy, or precise? Where does the style make the biggest difference?
- Where does the book ask you to be a detective, and did you enjoy the job?
- What tiny moment felt like a private joke or a wink from the author?
- Which scene could you show without any words, using only actions and expressions?
- What’s the most generous interpretation of the ending? What is the most cynical view? Which of these endings feels most true to the story?
- If the author asked you for one edit to sharpen the whole book, what would you change?
- Which contradiction (stated or implied) is the engine of the story?
- What would a sequel of the book look like?
- When does the setting feel like it has a life of its own, and when is it just background?
- What feeling was the story trying to pull out of you? Was it hope, frustration, or something else?
- If the villain wrote a book to tell their side of the story, what chapter title would best explain their point of view?
- What is your favourite quote from the book?
- What will you remember about this book in a year?
